Leo Tolstoy - If you want to be happy, be.

Leo Tolstoy was born in Tula Province, Russia onn September 9, 1828.
He died on November 20, 1910 in Astapovo, Russia.

Tolstoy received his primary education at home, he enrolled in an Oriental languages program at the University of Kazan. There, Tolstoy failed to excel as a student. He left the University of Kazan in 1847, without a degree.

His best known novels:
War and Peace,
Anna Karenina,
The Death of Ivan Ilyich

To this day, Tolstoy's novels are considered among the finest achievements of literary work. War and Peace is, in fact, frequently cited as the greatest novel ever written.

Tolstoy’s view through his quotes:
  • Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.
  • All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love.
  • Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
  • Truth, like gold, is to be obtained not by its growth, but by washing away from it all that is not gold.
  • The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.
  • In the name of God, stop a moment, cease your work, look around you.
  • There is no greatness where there is no simplicity, goodness and truth.
  • We can know only that we know nothing. And that is the highest degree of human wisdom.
  • The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.
